Affiliate disclosure & how we test
WiFi Assistant is reader-supported. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, and we may earn a commission from other retailers we link to. This never changes what we recommend or how we test.
Why Ubiquiti appears so often
Because on price, software and capability it is frequently the right answer for the audiences this site serves — and because we deploy it. That is a real bias and you should know about it.
What it is not is a commercial arrangement. We recommend other vendors wherever they are the better answer, and every Ubiquiti review on this site carries the same critical section as every other review. If a UniFi product is the wrong choice for a job, we say so on the page that sells it.
How we make money
Two ways, both disclosed. Affiliate commissions when you buy hardware through our links, and sponsorship of specific white papers — always labelled on the paper itself.
What money does not buy
A place in a recommendation list, a rating, or the removal of a criticism. If a vendor asks for any of those, we say no and the request itself becomes a news item.
How we test
- Access points and mesh systems are run for a minimum of two weeks on a live network, not a bench.
- Throughput is measured with iperf3 over a wired backhaul, at three distances, with the channel width the product ships with by default.
- Every review states the firmware version tested, because Wi-Fi products change materially between releases.
- We do not accept review units on the condition of a pre-publication read.
Case studies
Where a case study describes a client deployment, the client has approved publication. Where a client is not named, the details have been generalised enough to protect them while keeping the measurements honest.
Prices
We never hard-code prices. Price notes are typical street prices in your currency — pounds on the UK site, euros on the French, German and Italian sites. Every link goes to the retailer so what you see there is current.
